DK Updates: June 23, 2011 This is it! Here we are at race week already! We are excited. The race is completely full and we have a fun day in store for you! Here's a quick todo list for you this week: - ATHLETE INFORMATION CHECK: please review your athlete information when you pick up your packets and be sure to get us any corrections at that time.
- PACKET PICK UP : review the 2011 racer's schedule (below) for this week approaching the race, including packet pick up on Wed/Thurs afternoon at Las Vegas Cyclery (3-6 pm.) and on Friday night in Blue Diamond at the spaghetti dinner (4:30-6:30).

by Wednesday for a head count on the spaghetti dinner so we know how much food to get. Directions and details are on the 2011 schedule page. You just pay at the door. Adults $10, Kids $5, or Families $25. Dinner party is from 4:30 to 6:30 and includes a yummy carbo-loading pasta dinner, packet pick up, early body marking and a self-guided course preview on a marked course.
- PRE-RIDE: In conjunction with the spaghetti dinner on Friday night, you can pre-ride the marked course anytime after 4:30-optional. Your parents can ride with you on the pre-ride, but not on race day, unless you are in the parent assist category.
- PREPARE: read your race packet carefully after you pick it up and do everything it says, including getting 2 items or 2 bucks ready for the parking admission for the three square charity in the morning.
- RACE: 5:30-6:30 parking, 6:30-7:30 check in and transition set up, 7:30 athlete roll call in pool, 7:45-8 race start, 10:00 awards GO FOR IT. HAVE A BLAST!

Boy time goes by fast. Just as fast as our kids! This is our fifth year of Diamond Kid racing and we are looking forward to more fun and special recognition for all DK 5 Year SUPER TRIATHLETES! From this year on, we will be recognizing any triathlete (including parent assist, but not including fun run) who has completed this triathlon 5 years. After this year, it doesn't have to be 5 years in a row, just 5 years total. That's a pretty big accomplishment! - March 6, 2011, Standard Registration $40
- June 1, Standard Registration ends (Late Registration after June 1 is $5 more)
- June 6-17, 2 weeks FREE bike check at Las Vegas Cyclery
- June 15, midnight, registration closes, or earlier if sold out (the race has sold out early every year).
- Packet Pick-up, at Las Vegas Cyclery, NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP. (Call if you need to make arrangements other than the following packet pick up times.)
- Wednesday, June 22, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Las Vegas Cyclery
- Thursday, June 23, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Las Vegas Cyclery
- Friday, June 24, at the Spaghetti dinner in Blue Diamond
- Friday, June 24, Course set up. Course directors will be setting up the course. Racers can come pre-ride the course with their families. (Parents WILL NOT be allowed to ride with their athletes on race day unless they are in the parent assist category.)
- Friday June 24, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Spaghetti dinner, the town of Blue Diamond is hosting a spaghetti dinner for all Diamond Kid athletes and their families. Dinner is $5 per child, $10 per adult or $25 per family. Packet pick up, body markings, course previews, and pre-rides and runs can be done at this time as well. The dinner is at the red quonset hut in the same park as the race festivities. Mapquest.

- Saturday, June 25, Race Day!,
- 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. check-in, timing chips, body marking, bike check, transition set up
- 7:30 roll call at the pool for the triathletes and at the start line for the runners. Triathletes will be called into the pool area by age group.
- 7:45 athlete line up and rules (triathletes in pool and runners on road)
- 8:00 a.m. race start (both triathlon swimmers and fun run runners), fun run and long course start first, followed by parent assist and short course
- 10:00 a.m. awards ceremony

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW DATE! This year's 5th Annual Diamond Kid is on Saturday, June 25, 2011. With school and sports getting out later this year, we had to shift our event back as well. After much effort, the earliest summer date we could get this year was the 25th. The good thing about this new date is that the pool water will be warmer, and the kids will have more time to practice up for the big day. We will send out an email with a link to on-line registration which will open March 3, 2011. If you have done the race in the past, you will automatically be notified.
