Dear Diamond Kids and friends (and moms, Happy Mother's Day to you!),
 
 
We have one month to go to the Diamond Kid triathlon and fun run!  Are you ready?  This is an important week.  It is the last week athletes can get in before the late registration price increase and the last week sponsors can get in before we start making the t-shirts.  Then, the next two weeks after this week, (May 16-28) Las Vegas Cyclery will be offering FREE bike checks for all registered Diamond Kid athletes.  Please note the following updates:
 
Late Sign Ups
If you haven't signed up yet, be sure to sign up by May 16 to avoid the $10 late sign up fee.  ALL sign ups this year are on active.com.  There is NO paper registration.  Registration closes on May 28 or when full, whichever comes first.  If you need help signing up, you can call our Registrar, Suzanne Young, 716-2391.
 
5 Year Award
Since this is our fourth year doing Diamond Kid and many of your fourth years doing it as well, we are going to offer a special 5 Year Award next year to all Fifth Year Diamond Kids.  This is a very special accomplishment, that we will be excited to honor for the first time to those athletes next year! 
 
Spaghetti Dinner
The spaghetti dinner is back!  The town of Blue Diamond has offered to host another spaghetti dinner for Diamond Kid athletes, families, and friends, for carbo loading the night before the race, (Friday, May 5.)  This is optional; no pre-registration required.  You just pay at the door.  I will be sending out an email the week before to get a headcount, so see if it will fit in your calendar.  It is $5 for kids, $10 for adults, or $25 for families.  Body markings, course previews and pre-rides can be done at this time as well.  It will be fun and provide for a smoother race day morning.  See map on website.
 
Sponsorship Opportunities
All Diamond Kid sponsorship donations are tax deductible. This is a non-profit event, who's primary focus has always been the children; to provide a positive, active, learning, growing, athletic, confidence-building, memorable, and fun event for them.  We appreciate your help and support to make this possible. Free Bike Checks
Las Vegas Cyclery will be offering Free bike checks to all Diamond Kid athletes during the last two weeks of May.  In past years, our mechanic volunteers from Las Vegas Cyclery have told us that bike check at the race has been crazy busy.  They want everyone to be safe, so they have offered to do a free bike safety inspection to all Diamond Kid bikes before the race--during the last two weeks of May (FREE between May 16-28).  We can do some bike checks at the shop before or after those two weeks, but they won't be free because we are busy with Iron Girl (before May 16) and Diamond Kid (after May 28). 
 
Charity
The DK Angels Charity this year is Three Square.  To give is easy.  The cost for parking at Diamond Kid is 2 cans or 2 bucks.  This is the suggested minimum, but you are welcome and encouraged to give more, if you'd like.  Diamond Kids are always so giving and so positive.
